Everything Household Pet can do.

Household Pet runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android phones and tablets, and everything syncs between them. Install it, create an account and add your first pet — the whole thing takes a few minutes.

   Download the app

   Get Household Pet from the App Store (iPhone, iPad and Mac) or Google Play (Android). It's free to start, with an optional Plus upgrade for more pets, the AI symptom assistant, vet report PDFs and sitter sharing.

   Create your account

   Tap Create an account, enter your email and a password, then type the 6-digit code we email you into the verify screen. Prefer not to juggle another password? Use the Apple or Google sign-in buttons on the sign-in screen instead. (Code didn't arrive? Check spam; our mail comes from noreply@us.household.pet.)

   Add your first pet

   The app takes you straight to “Tell us about your pet”. Pick a species, give a name and sex, then add whatever else you have handy — breed, date of birth, whether they're spayed or neutered, color and markings, microchip number and a photo. Nothing else is required, and you can edit all of it later.

   You're in

   You land on the Home tab with your pet ready to go. Good first steps: log their last vaccination, tap Set up vaccination schedule, or add a reminder.

Tap a pet on Home or in the Pets tab to open its profile. From top to bottom:

• The header — photo, name, what the animal is, breed, date of birth with their age worked out, latest weight and microchip. Tap it to edit; the ⋯ menu has Edit pet and Delete pet.
• Add health event and Vet report.
• Set up vaccination schedule (dogs and cats) — adds the next dose as a reminder.
• Four shortcut tiles: Health (profile details, weight, documents and notes), Nutrition (the Food folder), Activity (the daily feed) and Care (who has access, the Insurance folder, and grooming and vet-visit history).
• Upcoming reminders, then the full health log.
• How is the pet today? at the bottom opens the AI symptom assistant.

More than dogs and cats

Choose from dog, cat, rabbit, bird, ferret, reptile, horse, cow or other. Each animal is called what it actually is, worked out from its sex, age and whether it's spayed or neutered — a young horse reads as a foal, a gelded one as a gelding, a young female cow as a heifer, a castrated bull over two as a steer — and the word keeps up on its own as the animal gets older. Cattle aren't microchipped, so their profile asks for the Official ear tag instead; horses keep the microchip field.

Horses and cattle get the same health log, documents, sharing and reminders as any other pet. Automatic vaccination schedules are only available for dogs and cats, so for other species set reminders using the dates agreed with your vet.

Editing a pet

Picked the wrong species when you added a pet? Change it under Edit pet. The app asks first, then replaces any upcoming vaccination reminder with one for the new species — or removes it if there's no schedule for that species. Past health-log entries stay as they are. Changes save even when you're offline and sync once you're back online.

To add another pet, tap Add another pet on Home or in the Pets tab. The free plan includes one pet of your own; pets that other people share with you don't count towards it.

Every pet has its own filing cabinet. Open Health (or Edit pet) to find it, sorted into folders:

• Notes — Temperament, handling tips, anything worth writing down
• Documents — Certificates, registration, receipts
• Food — Diet sheets and feeding instructions — also under Nutrition
• Insurance — Your policy documents — also under Care
• Information Sheet — The rundown you hand to a sitter or boarder
• Emergency File — What someone needs if things go wrong
• Vet Reports — PDF reports you have generated and saved

Add a file or snap a photo of a paper record with the camera. Tap a file to open it, or use its menu to share, rename, replace or delete it. Files are stored privately in your account. Each file shows whether it's still waiting to upload, synced and available offline, or stored in the cloud and downloaded when you open it.

The health log is the heart of the app — one record, newest first, of everything that happens to your pet. To add an entry, open a pet and tap Add health event, then pick a type:

• Vaccination — rabies, DHPP, FVRCP and boosters.
• Medication — what was given and when.
• Vet visit — notes from an appointment.
• Flea / worm treatment — parasite prevention.
• Grooming — clips, nails, baths.
• Note — anything else worth remembering.

Each entry takes an optional name (such as “Rabies”), the vet or clinic, a date and notes. Tap Save and it lands in the log.

The log also collects results from the AI symptom assistant (as Symptom entries), weigh-ins, and reminders you've ticked off (marked Done). Use an entry's ⋯ menu to edit or delete it. Everything here flows into vet reports and is visible to the people you've shared the pet with.

The health log is for the medical record; activity tracking is for everyday life. Open a pet and tap the Activity tile for a shared feed of what's happened lately — grouped by day, with Today and Yesterday at the top — so the whole household can see at a glance whether the dog's been walked or the cat's been fed.

Tap Add and pick Walk, Play, Feeding, Grooming, Potty or Rest — or Other with your own label. Each entry takes a time, an optional note and quick toggles for poop, pee, water and ate — handy when you're watching tummy troubles or a fussy eater.

Every entry shows who logged it, and it syncs to everyone sharing the pet — including a sitter you've given access to — so nobody double-feeds or misses a walk. Tap an entry to edit it. Activity tracking is part of the free plan.

The Reminders tab covers the things that actually recur — rabies and core-vaccine boosters, flea, tick and heartworm prevention, vet check-ups and grooming appointments.

Reminders are split into Overdue, Upcoming and Done. The next few also appear on Home and on each pet's profile.

Adding a reminder

1. On the Reminders tab, tap + (or New reminder).
2. Choose the pet, give it a title (such as “Annual vaccination”) and pick a kind.
3. Set the date and time, add any notes, and tap Save.

For dogs and cats, Set up vaccination schedule on the pet's profile adds the next dose for you. When you mark a vaccination reminder done, the following dose is scheduled automatically.

Snooze, complete, edit

Tap any reminder to change it, snooze it, mark it done or delete it. Done reminders move to the Done tab and show in the pet's health log.

Getting alerts

The first time you create a reminder, the app asks whether you'd like alerts — nothing is sent unless you say yes. After that, your phone alerts you at the time you chose, and tapping the alert opens that reminder. Alerts for a pet stop if you delete it or lose access to it.

Heading to an appointment? Household Pet builds a clean PDF summary of a pet's history to show or send to your vet.

1. Open the pet and tap Vet report.
2. Choose what to include: Pet photo, Vaccinations, Medications & parasite, Weight and Vet visits & notes. The pet's profile details are always on the cover.
3. For weight, choose Chart over time or Latest measurement.
4. Tap Generate PDF and check the preview.
5. Tap Save to records to keep it in the pet's Vet Reports folder, Share to send it by email or message, or Discard.

Reports are built on our servers from your synced records, so generating one needs a connection. Once saved to records, a report opens offline like any other document.

Pets are rarely one person's job. Open a pet, tap Care, then Access to reach Manage access. It shows how many of the pet's 10 slots are in use — the owner, co-owners and pending invites all count.

What each guest can see

Leaving and removing

Owners can revoke a pending invite, remove a member or end a guest's access at any time. Anyone can Leave this pet if they aren't its only member; if the owner leaves, the longest-standing co-owner becomes the owner. Someone who is removed keeps whatever had already synced to their device, but sees no new changes.

Household Pet is offline-first. Everything you do is saved to your device immediately — you never wait on the network — and uploaded the moment you're back online. The app keeps you signed in without signal, so your pets, health log and reminders are there at the vet, in a basement clinic or out of range.

More → Sync shows what's happening: changes uploading, changes waiting, or Everything is up to date. Under More → Offline access, Download over mobile data controls whether documents are saved to your device on any connection or only on Wi-Fi. Either way, you can open a document over mobile data.

A few things do need a connection: the AI symptom assistant, generating a vet report and requesting a data export.

* Each account can be on up to 50 pets in total, counting pets shared with you.

Subscribe monthly or yearly from any Plus prompt in the app, or from More → Current plan. The yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple or Google, so you cancel from your device's subscription settings. New device? Tap Restore purchases on the Plus screen. Your pet records never depend on your plan — only the Plus features do.

Your records are hosted in the United States. We don't sell your data, run ads or track you off the app. You stay in control from More → Privacy & data:

• Download my data — the app shows a password for your export file. Copy and save it (it won't be shown again), then tap I've saved it — request export. Within 24 hours we email a link to a password-protected ZIP of everything we hold.
• Delete my account — schedules permanent deletion in 14 days and emails you a confirmation. Changed your mind? Sign back in and tap Cancel deletion on Home (or Cancel scheduled deletion in More) before then.
